Take sheets of plain white paper and cut them into snowflakes using all different patterns (use your imagination). Place the hearts over the snowflakes and trace around the edges. Cut the snowflake so it fits over the heart and glue them together. You could also trim the snowflake so it is slightly smaller to give the heart a framed look. Hang the hearts throughout your home on mirrors on glassed over wall hangings and from lighting. Project Idea #3 Create a simple paper chain using red pink and white. Alternate the colors in a pattern that pleases you. Theres no right or wrong way to do this. Hang this with additional Valentines day decorations like the paper hearts mentioned above. Consider hanging the hearts from the chain itself. As an added twist cut large hearts out from pieces of decorative scrapbook paper.
Serve a wide variety of flavored decaffeinated teas as well as an assortment of flavored hot chocolate. Use tissue paper and pipe cleaners to create vases full of flowers for the tables centerpiece. You can also cut out hearts from paper and use the hearts as flower peddles glued to Popsicle sticks. Additional Valentines day decorations for the table include creating confetti like hearts using a paper punch and several different colors of paper or remnants from wrapping paper. Use paper heart doilies throughout the table presentation underneath the clear glass servers. Keep in mind the foods you serve can also act as the Valentines day decorations. For example serve a variety of foiled candies in clear dishes place a variety of cookies out in clear glass bowls (arrange them so the hearts are overlapping each other) and fill wine glasses with red white and pink hard candies like M&Ms or lifesavers.
Fill a punch bowl with red punch lemon and lime flavored soda a half-gallon of rainbow sherbet (in large scoops) and cut up oranges to float on top. Wet the rims of glasses and rub them into a saucer of sugar. Display these glasses next to the punch bowl. The sugar not only makes the glasses an addition to your Valentines day decorations but they add flavor to the drink. Dont forget the cupcakes! There are so many ways to decorate a cup cake and that could actually be part of your Valentines day party plans. Consider setting up a separate table or section of your countertop with all the Valentines day decorations for each cupcake in buffet style. These decorations can include sprinkles hard candy message hearts M&Ms chocolate syrup shaved dark chocolate shaved white chocolate and so on.
