Valentines Presents / January 11, 2019 / Lauri Cooke
The country was under the power of the hard-hearted Roman Emperor Claudius II who at the time forbade marriage ceremonies and constantly betrothed Rome in bloody battles. He had a crazy idea. He thought if a man wasnt married he wouldnt mind joining the army. But to his horror Claudius discovered that men were reluctant to join the army because of their loyalty to their wives and families. So he sanctioned a callous order that banned engagements and marriages in Rome. But in spite of this Saint Valentine continued to perform marriage rituals. Thrown into jail it was said that Valentine fell in love with his jailors daughter and restored her sight through his Christian faith and devotion for her. Before his execution Valentine sent her a final message signed "From your Valentine" - a phrase that gets a lot of mileage and one which has become an everlasting symbol of camaraderie and warmth.
If they value the love you feel for them above all else then a sentimental gift is by far the better choice: something of the earth perhaps; a gift that will last forever just as the love you feel will endure for eternity. A Valentines gift need not cost a fortune and no true Valentine would expect you to pay out cash you can ill afford on their behalf. A Valentines gift should be a token of everything you feel about your Valentine: a connection; a unique symbol of affection and love; that piece of love and friendship in your pocket that reminds you to stay positive because you know how much you are loved. A gift that can be shared is also a great gift - one for me and one for you. Simple. Loving. Effective. Coming up with unique or personalised Valentine gift ideas can be incredibly difficult what with all the high street stores trying to sell you the generic Valentines presents they cart out every year such as chocolates flowers or teddy bears holding a heart.
And love shouldnt be about the price tag. Find the perfect present Finding the perfect present takes quite a bit of thought - there are a lucky few who have a partner with a job or hobby that are easy to buy for but for most of us Valentines presents take a lot of thought - especially if your partner has almost everything he or she already wants. Some great fall back options are computer games or other consumer products that theyve expressed an interest in but havent bought yet (though be careful that they havent already bought it and its not already on its way!). This is a solid way to show that youve been paying attention to them without needing to ask them if theres anything they want and allows you to pick a Valentines present that will surprise them.
