Mardi Gras Carnival Art / February 22, 2019 / Kelly Roberson
In honor of the celebration that he knew was taking place in France on that very day he named the spot Point du Mardi Gras. As more settlers arrived from France the customs that they had practiced there slowly began to take shape into what we now know as Mardi Gras. As popular as Mardi Gras has become in the United States most people only know half of the Mardi Gras tradition. While many know that the celebration is related to Lent what many do not know is that it is also related to Christmas. Carnival as the actual season is known begins on the same date every year. Only the actual date of Mardi Gras changes. This date to kick of the Carnival season is January 6. The date is also referred to as 12th night.
The carnival is usually a precursor to a fasting period that follows this period. As this is a colorful and fun-filled festival organizing this in such a way to impress and allow your guests to enjoy the flavor at the same time is very important which brings us to mardi gras party supplies. Mardi gras is a very colorful event so the decorations to your place become the first priority. Decorate using bright colored beads flowers and ribbons. The second most important factor is the food served and supplied. This being basically a food centered carnival the menu should have rich delicacies and you should not bother about the calories in the food.
Party masks in plentiful supply are just a few keystrokes away. Feathers and frills that enhance the night s need for mystery and intrigue are available; so are sequined masks that hide Halloween ballerinas from crowds of ghouls and goblins from school. Any costumed occasion can call for the appropriately feathered and sequined mask. Delicate colors can be matched to most costumes. Chiffon and silks of formal costume balls are the perfect place for feather masks. The court jester may need to tell his best jokes to the feather masks in his court and juggle with his best skill.
