You may also wish to gather a classroom full of children and create a mural with each child participating by adding to a large picture that shows what Earth Day means to them or what they can do to help protect and preserve the earth. The mural can hang on one wall of the classroom for several weeks to remind the children of the importance of Earth Day and what it represents.
In 1962 marine biologist Rachel Carson published Silent Spring. The book talked about the commonly used toxic pesticides used in agriculture and daily life. The title referred to the consequences of the devastating pesticides: a world without birds. Surprisingly Silent Spring became a hit. Americans cared and they wanted the facts. In 1968 the world saw the entire Earth for the first time. Apollo astronauts photographed the planet on their flight home from the moon. The Earth looked beautiful with its swirls of blues and whites. The photo provided a startling awareness: people saw Earth as vulnerable and needing human care.
Earth Day Birthday provides the 20th century grassroots effort in reaching eco-friendly people and making an impact on the planet. Attending an Earth Day symposium would be tiring so people need some energy to keep up stay awake and energized to absorb the important matters that are being discussed in that said event. If you would notice organizers of such events are providing some food for people to munch in and it depends the time of the day if it would be apt for lunch snacks or dinner. But usually organizer is serving snacks like finger food and energy bars or anything that is related to the theme of the event while others rely on their sponsors for food.
