Finding the best Mother s Day gifts are sometimes in the hardest things during the Mother s Day season. It is a big holiday and the numbers of gift options are infinite. I guess the best way to hone in on a gift would be to start with what personality type your mom is then branch out from there. There are five popular personality types we will discuss and they include the PTA mom the newbie mom mother earth mom runway model mom Martha Stewart mom. The PTA mom is a woman who is actively involved in juggling multiple social events pertaining to the lives of her children and is intimately involved in their lives.
It is a relationship promoting holiday that can be celebrated by making a difference. Organizing an event changing a habit or launching a community garden can all be on the agenda of celebrating Earth Day. Bringing people together with mutual interests is typical of the earth element. Protecting the environment is now a priority among the many issues of global concerns. On a small scale we can look at the microcosm of family life with genuine goals of adjusting bad habits toward better practices in the usage of measurable resources. Our carbon footprint is not just an abstract concept but a very real and measurable entity.
Approximately 20 million people celebrated the first Earth Day. In America participation was high in schools which ten thousand grade schools and high schools two thousand colleges participating. Amazing numbers considering the event started as a grassroots movement. Government Actions The strength of the Earth Day movement was clear to legislatures. Following Earth Day s success the U.S. government passed laws that targeted cleaner living. In 1970 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was established. The Clean Air Act followed with a focus on reducing air pollution with the Clean Water Act doing likewise for water clean-up in 1972. The U.S. also passed the Endangered Species Act to protect animals from extinction.
