Fathers Day / March 6, 2019 / Fran Petty.
He taught us through "trickery." My father would "trick" us into doing chores he thought we may not want to do such as "Girls dont you dare polish my shoes." Being daring girls - wed polish his shoes. It was Dads game but we were always willing players. Dad enjoyed simple things like this and he appreciated having these chores done. He was such a kind man that he found his pleasure not in receiving but in giving. This was one of the greatest lessons we all learned from Dad. When his girls grew up and left the nest food would appear in our cupboards from "no where." Money would be found in our purses mysteriously but always after a visit from Dad.
Fathers Day is the time when were encouraged to give cards whiskey cigars to our fathers in recognition of their valuable role in our lives. But these days many homes are single-parent families with an absent father maybe seen only occasionally. Step-fathers grandfathers uncles neighbours teachers can all occupy the position of significant male role model and may actually be more supportive and reliable that our real father. Father is often a childs first significant male role model. If he falls short is a disappointment the child may become defensive shut off emotionally in a bid to avoid further hurt and let down determined to show they dont care.
Or conversely the child may react against their treatment and become rebellious defiant as they continue to demand attention any attention being deemed better than none. Lets reflect on the qualities we may feel are important in a father: - Physical strength is a quality many children value in their father. Children feel proud when their father is strong and physically fit. They feel protected against whatever danger there may be in the world. Knowing he is strong provides reassurance and a sense of security.- Moral strength is important. Children like to see their father do the right thing have principles and be fair.
The best gifts for dad should be according to your fathers choice otherwise they will have of no use to him. As you are quite closed with your father so you have a clear hang of his taste and preferences. Does he burn midnight oil to read the novels? If yes then pay a visit to the bookstores and choose some popular novels. It is better to combine the classic novels and short stories. Nothing can match utility of the great books to a book-worm person like your dad. May be he will consider the books as the best fathers day gifts he has ever had. Photo frames are the all time favorite whatever be the occasion.
Tada! These gifts will thrill even the most intrepid daredevil Dad. From flying experiences to driving experiences golf experiences to fishing experiences these little boxes of dynamite contain activities to suit Dads with the adventurous edge. Push Dad into the deep end with an off-road driving day or white-water rafting experience. For something more serene send him on a vineyard tour or a day at the races. The Fathers Day tradition began as a way to honor ones father. What great gift than that of a photograph representing how much you honor and appreciate him? A fathers day present that involves a photograph can sometimes say much more about how you feel where words may not. When giving a fathers day present a photograph of good times is often the best and ideal photo to present.
