With so many different celebrations it should be easy for anyone who desires to attend a parade to find one they are comfortable attending. The communities of Orange Beach and Fairhope have recently began holding parades and these are the perfect size to attend for someone who doesn t enjoy large crowds and wants to avoid any of the hard partying that can be seen in the larger cities along the Gulf Coast. This year to celebrate Mardi Gras send out a few free e-cards. Free e-cards are quickly becoming the favored choice over paper cards to celebrate events. Celebrated on the day before Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of the penitence of Lent Carnival is a time to let loose of all inhibitions and relax often in a drunken rowdy manner if the annual spectacle of Mardi Gras is any kind of indication.
Mardi Gras Day is also known as the Fat Tuesday. It is an interesting fact that Mardi Gras came to New Orleans with the French colonists in the 18th century. You would be amazed to know that it is not only in New Orleans that this event takes place but it also occurs in many parts of the world. In United States Mardi Gras takes place at Detroit Galveston Island Mississippi Mobile Pensacola St. Louis Port Arthur San Diego etc. Mardi Gras also takes place in many other countries which includes Australia Argentina Belgium Brazil Caribbean Italy Mexico Panama Slovenia Sweden and Uruguay.
The Saints appreciation parade will likely roll at 5 PM on Tuesday February 9 from the Superdome and will travel down Loyola to Howard around Lee Circle up St. Charles Avenue to Canal making a loop on Canal Street to Convention Center Blvd ending near the Morial Convention Center. Zulu - Mardi Gras morning The Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club parade is well known for its interesting history (it originated over 100 years ago as an African American organization satirizing the White krewes during the era of racial segregation) and "golden nugget" (coconut) parade throws. Kid s Parade: Stages on 15th Street west of Beck Ave. and will travel on Beck Ave. to 11th St. and disband. Kid s Parade immediately follows the Pet Parade. Today the celebration of Mardi Gras/carnival has very little to do with religion.
Refreshments will need to be more amazing than usual and the dances will need to be courtlier than ever before. Everything will take on a fancier appearance when masks with feathers and sequins appear at a party. Laughter is an automatic response to the sight of masks made with the look of antique feathers and sequins in a costume s design. It is nearly impossible not to smile at this soft finery. Every Hogmanay or New Years Eve in a small Perthshire village in Scotland the tradition of a parade being lead by flambeaux carriers lives on. The celebrations commence with the sounds of the pipe band (bagpipes and drums) and shortly before midnight the main road running from one end of the village to the other is closed off to traffic.

It is a child-friendly season everywhere in New Orleans besides Bourbon Street. It is a day of carefree indulgence marked by revelers in bizarre costumes dancing in the street. It is French for Fat Tuesday the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is without a doubt Louisiana s oldest celebrated holiday. It is just around the corner don t forget. It is referred to with different names. Mardi Gras or "Fat Tuesday" is the day before the season of Lent begins.
