Valentines Flowers / January 12, 2019 / Gladys Hayden
Make sure this cut is at an angle as this helps the flowers access the water better than if the stems were standing on the bottom of the vase. When cutting the stems never break them off with your hands or flatten them as this will also shorten the flower life. Once this is done all you have to do is tend to your flowers as you would your garden or any living thing for that matter! Regularly top up the vase with clean water. You should make sure the leaves are never covered with water as they will only contaminate the water. The leaves will rot and breed bacteria thus decreasing the longevity of the cut flowers. You should also keep your flowers away from fruit. You cant smell it but fruit gives off ethylene gas which affects the quality of the flowers life.
While men are constantly advised to listen to what women are not saying for women its easier because men will quite plainly just tell you what they like and what they dislike. It will be as different and obvious as the Packers and The Bears. Women just need to know the difference learning about it is not necessary. Stick a few Valentines roses inside a football shaped container at dinner or consider decorating the house in the colors of his favorite sports team and give him a break from all the pink and red. There is a whole world of sports memorabilia out there for the sports fan. Rule Three: Indulgence is key. Just because your partner is watching his weight (men watch their weight almost as much as women) or because youre mother-in-law has been deploring about your husbands blood pressure doesnt mean that he cant enjoy something once in a while. On Valentines Day turning the tables and buying some special food favorites for him is a good idea. Men are the worlds biggest fan of food or try buying him chocolate gifts for a change. The truth about gift buying is that isnt easy for either men or women and both look for easy options.
If you cant find any flower food or dont have any handy all you need is a teaspoon of sugar a teaspoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of bleach dissolved in half a liter of water to help keep your flowers fresh. Flowers dont like direct sunlight or draughts and at night they like to be kept cool so keep them in a cool sheltered place. You should keep them away from anything that gives off heat like the TV microwave or indoor heating appliances (maybe in summer this wont be such a problem). If you have a flower arrangement you wont have to worry about rearranging the flowers as the work has been done for you. If you dont have an arrangement make sure you cut off approximately an inch off each stem at an angle before arranging them.
