Fathers Day / March 6, 2019 / Hester Higgins.
This is how we showed our love not just on Fathers Day but throughout the year. We made Fathers Day special by simply telling him how much we loved him and by cooking him anything he wanted. Remembering and thanking your father on Fathers Day need not be difficult and probably doesnt need to include buying a tie. But dont forget the old saying "The way to a mans heart is through his stomach." Often it is true. Surprise your Dad or your Grand Dad or your husband with some culinary delights and his favorite beverage or two. And barbecuing is often a hit for Dads day if the weather is good.
Or conversely the child may react against their treatment and become rebellious defiant as they continue to demand attention any attention being deemed better than none. Lets reflect on the qualities we may feel are important in a father: - Physical strength is a quality many children value in their father. Children feel proud when their father is strong and physically fit. They feel protected against whatever danger there may be in the world. Knowing he is strong provides reassurance and a sense of security.- Moral strength is important. Children like to see their father do the right thing have principles and be fair.
Many men are keen to care for their children play with them and be involved in their lives. The days of the hardly present father a somewhat stern distant disciplinarian figure are thankfully waning. Many men want to be hands on fathers playing and being involved getting to know their children and having a good relationship with them as they develop and grow. Grandfathers play an increasingly important part in many childrens lives. With the high incidence of divorce many single parents rely heavily on the support of friends and family to help with childcare.
Everyone makes a mountain out of Mothers Day and rightly so. But without Dads lets face it we wouldnt exist. Fathers Day falls on 19th June this year so how about using this day to tell your Dad what a man he is? Fathers Day gifts are all part of the equation but year in year out you may make excuses about what you "meant" to get your Dad. But something always gets in the way and suddenly its Fathers Day and you have nothing... not even an excuse. Well NOT THIS YEAR! At least this time you can give your Dad something hell remember. Forever. But first heres some advice on what NOT to get him.
If you do forget to buy your dad a present resist the urge to fall back on traditional gifts and activities at the last minute. Since restaurants are usually jammed on Fathers Day dont assume that you can take your dad to his favorite eatery for the Fathers Day special brunch or dinner. When shopping avoid items like toiletries and colognes unless you are absolutely sure that he likes to get that kind of thing. A lot of guys prefer certain fragrances and dont like to experiment with new ones. Whether you are shopping in a store or online make sure that you get a receipt so that the item can be returned or exchanged if it is unsuitable. When time and money are at a premium "When is fathers day?" may be a question you ask with trepidation. However there is no need to get stressed out. Fathers Day gift baskets theater or concert tickets a couple of great books and delicious gourmet foods are all readily available at reasonable prices. Family is the most important thing about Fathers Day so relax and enjoy the celebration with the people you love.
